Unfortunately, on my TI 4000E laptop, PCMCIA wasn't an option. It was
available at the time, TI was too stupid to add it. And not too long

And the "C" key on the keyboard is worn out. Anyone ever realize how
often "C" gets used in DOS? After this, I did.

I can hook up a network adapter I bought for it and that allows an
external keyboard - but it isn't quite so portable after this...

Not a big deal as the battery died within months of acquiring it
(used). Ever notice how expensive laptop batteries are?

Yep--one of the great rackets. ;-) And you need a new one every
2-3 years. They are mostly proprietary shapes and colors, so when
they're gone, they're gone.

The trick is, if they're NiCd or NiHM they usually can be rebuilt with new cells for less than it'd cost to buy whole new packs... assuming you can solder and are patient/carefull enough to figure out how to break them open without actually breaking them... usually they're glued together or popped together with tabs on the insides... I've personally never done it yet, though I have a friend who has done it. Right now I've been meaning to try to break into the battery packs to my Apple PowerBook 180c beacause they are dead dead dead.
