In applewin it does flicker a bit, unfortunately.  However when I ran
it a few times I would get a small enough amount of flicker to at least
verify that I was perceiving the extra colors rather than flashing
alternate colors.  I plan to hit a real apple with this code to see how
bad the flicker is on a television -- since that's ultimately the
target machine.

It might be necessary to tune the palette down from the quasi-131
colors down to a smaller number of colors that result in less flicker.
Some of the colors produce a lot less visible flickering and so are
much more preferred choices for an expanded palette.

See nick's modified version that allows you to adjust the delay
interval.  This might help you see something with less flicker than the
version I posted.
