It's the original Apple (pre-super serial) serial card. Someone took offthe cable and soldered on the RJ-11 probably to cheaply extend theserial connection 25ft or more.


Wow--not just pre-SSC, but a pre-UART serial interface!  ;-)
The earliest ones I've seen have all had UARTs.

I suppose it was inspired by Woz's no-disk-controller Disk ][ Controller
design...
