Small correction....the Apple branded companion monitor to the Apple IIgs
(AppleColor RGB Monitor) is an analog RGB monitor, not a digital RGB
monitor.

One might want to use a non Apple monitor....for more versatility, better
dot pitch, etc.

For example, a monitor such as a Commodore 1084 or a Magnavox 8CM515 has
mulitple types of inputs and modes of display.  Either one can accept
digital RGB, analog RGB, color composite input, and in the case of the
1084, also the seperate LUMA/CHROMA inputs (for the equivalant of S-Video
input). Both monitors also have a built in speaker which makes it handy
for hooking up to a DVD player, or a VCR, or other non-Apple computers
from back in the day which most of them didn't have built in speakers
inside the computer.

Personally, I think the Apple IIgs RGB Monitor (the AppleColor RGB
Monitor) sucks. Sure, it looks all cute and nice sitting on top of a IIgs
computer due to it's form factor......but the display itself sucks.  I'd
much rather use my Commodore 1084 hooked up to it.
