I used it mostly for games, but when I'd see a game released that
looked good and discover that it was only for the C64, I'd be a little
disappointed.... however
Now that we have emulators, I can play all those games again.. and I
discovered that quite a few of those games weren't that great
anyways... but at the time, it was like 'boo, no apple version'. Like
the Mac of today, most of the really good worthwhile software is
available.

In my opinion, even though a lot of times the C64 could display more
colors on average than Apple II (ok.. there's DHR, but most of those
were too slow...(Airheart is the exception),
The Apple II still looked better to me... one of my favorate games,
Bard's Tale looks pretty much exact between Apple & C64, but the Apple
II looks better to me.. I don't know if it's the texture or what... but
in the end, I always go back to the ][.
