ADT2005 is not different from ADT2004 in this matter and IIRC the setting of the port is windows standard api (and probably the same as the control panel) nothing strange.
I was originally thinking that there could be a grounding problem, that a bad capacitor in the powersupply would float either the Apple or the PC so they had different ground levels destroying communication but then setting the port would not make any difference.
It would be interesting to hear if anyone else have had similar problems... it just works very well for me on several machines and versions of windows.
