Someone was already supposed to have written an Apple //c emulator for
the Newton, but he's rather hard to get ahold of. I talked to Paul
Guyot, the leading authority on the Newton, and he says that the eMate
would be too slow for emulation. Still, I have found someone with an
emulator for the same kind of processor that's in an eMate, I guess I
could make an attempt to adapt it. One of the reasons I thought about
using an eMate was because of the monochromatic screen - most software
for the Apple // series was written for them. Two other reasons are
because of the battery life and the fact that eMates were built to
withstand the abuse of elementary school students.
