Well, after building a new CPU ribbon cable, I am pleased to report
that my "new" Zip GSX is running just fine.

Now all I need is the CDA, and perhaps some general instructions on how
to install a CDA on various bootable media.

If you just want a quick way to control the ZipGS, may I suggest "Zippy",
a ProDOS 8 SYS program (http://www.fadden.com/dl-apple2/#zippy).

Andy, as I was browsing around your other Apple II stuff on this page,
I came across your course on data compression. I'd like to thank you
for this course.

Quite a few years ago, I found it and the ADPCM algorithm you cited.
I converted it to compress 8-bit sounds, and implemented 2:1 compression
and decompression routines in 6502 M/L for SOUND.EDITOR. (If your mass
storage is a 140KB disk, then 2:1 compression for sounds is a big win--
both in space and in I/O time. ;-)

(BTW, the source for these routines is linked on my web page.)
