I never realized how too much bass can really ruin some great Apple music (I like the start up tune for Pipe Dream especially).Too much bass is all the rage these days. It's hard to stop at a light without hearing it. ;-(I was going to comment that using any sort of "home theatre" amp is probably not going to work well for Apple II sound. A decent stereo amp, on the other hand, should do the job nicely... both for Mocvkingboard and standard Apple sound.
Actually, any good home theater equipment should be able to do a perfectly neutral job of reproduction. It's just that most of them are set up for Jurassic Park. ;-) And low-end speakers--especially if they include a subwoofer--are very likely to be unbalanced one way or the other. For one thing, any set including a subwoofer *should* include a subwoofer level control, since the subwoofer gain can vary by a factor of four just based on speaker placement (midroom, wall, corner, etc.). -michael Music synthesis for 8-bit Apple II's!
