I guess I'll comment here, although I fear it's like touching the 'third 
rail' at this point.

Personally, I think both sides have valid points.  And yes, it is a 'side' 
when you choose Mac or PC.  It's also like arguing Motorcycles vs. Cars - 
which is the 'better' option.  Actually, it's Diesel vs. Gas.

I've worked (repairing/networking) on PC's for over 15 years.  Being in 
business for just about that long too I can tell you from a Business stand 
point it's a numbers game.  PC's cost less, more people have them and there 
is more business software for them too.  Done.  It's not a personal 
decision, it's a business decision.  "But Henry, Apple has the better 
machine".  Possibly, whatever that is supposed to mean.  The fact that 
Diesel is also a more energy dense fuel doesn't (generally) convince car 
buyers to buy Diesel cars now does it?  It's the same with XP vs. OS X.  To 
tell me as a business owner that Apple has the better product because, 
price/viruses/support/software is all worthless because productivity will 
utility win in the end.  Whatever makes that business the most money will 
win out, whatever the system.

Personally?  I prefer PC's.  I make a killing every year removing 
SpyWare/Viruses.  I also have had VERY little issues with my own machines. 
Why?  It's not just because I know what I'm doing.  Trust me, I go in the 
same 'bad' places that everyone else goes and probably more so.  I also 
download tons of music, software, movies, etc. too.  It mostly comes down to 
keeping the system up to date, a good Anti-virus package and, MOST 
IMPORTANTLY, caring to take the time to read.  I'm surprised at how many 
illiterate people there are on the Net.  I'll uninstall some SpyWare and the 
user will click right back on it and try to re-install it again.  If they 
had read just 2 or 3 lines on the screen they would have noticed the tool 
bar crap and ad software they just agreed to re-install.  If they were my 
people, I'd fire them then shoot them.  In the end, you get what you pay for 
in life - and staffing is no exception.  The main problem is not what the 
better machine is, it's how qualified the user is.  Right now there isn't a 
way to 'test' or 'license' people in computers.  You just go in to an 
Interview and say 'Yeah, I know Word'.  Maybe take a basic test and done.

Is Mac the better computer?  Quite possibly but you'd never convince me, as 
a business, to buy them.  Why won't I buy a Diesel car?  The for the same 
reason everyone doesn't, at least in this country, because the added price, 
I can find Gas anywhere, I already understand how Gas works and I know how 
to fix a Gas car.  Apple had their chance/day back in 83-ish and blew it, if 
you ask me.  If they had done the Apple II thing a bit different and open 
the MAC up to cloning then I think they could have come out on top and we'd 
all be bitching that XP is the better operating system because there 
wouldn't be as many viruses. ;-)  Oh yeah!  Remember OS/2?  XP is now JUST 
coming close to running as well as OS/2 Warp did 10 years ago.

More intelligent people then I would also say that comparing Apple to 
Microsoft is like comparing Ford to Exxon.  Apple is still 'stuck' in the 
car mentality while Microsoft is in the Gas mentality.  Apple has found out 
the hard way that you can't do it all (hard and software) and be a 
successful company.  It just doesn't work, ask Ford, McDonalds, Wal-Mart and 
even IBM.  You must focus on ONE thing in business and do it.

PS - I DO get paid to promote Microsoft.  BUY! BUY! BUY!  More like - 
DOWNLOAD FOR FREE! these days.  By the way, what does this have to do with 
the topic?  You guys love to go off on tangents!
