Yay!  It is a success.  I've been able to offload the contents of my
//e to my virtual //e (so let the fun begin ;-)

I've determined that the jumper pinout above is for "Modem" mode.  If
you flip it around 180 degrees you get terminal mode.

Also, here is the info to make an apple-to-DB9 connector in case anyone
is in dire need.

I used solder-less crimp-style connectors to do the job.  I recommend
having an ohm-meter to test your connections and have a jewler
screwdriver handy to push down any wires that are not making a
successful connection.
