Re: RAM Applesoft found!

A great find. Upload it please :)

I'd love to, but with Asimov basically unmaintained these days (stuff doesn't seem to ever get out of the write-only "incoming" directory any more), where should I send it?

Or send it to me!

Done!

Applesoft was created by Microsoft on request of Apple. Its a bit different from
the other early Microsoft 6502 interpreters like the KIM-1 9 digit Basic or the
PET Commodore or Ohio Scientific Basic versions. I assume on request of Apple.

A bit different in that some more commands have been added. Some from Integer and some new ones for Hires. But the code base is obviously the same as that of Commodore BASIC, since it has the same obscure bug.

PRINT ""+-0

crashes them all.

Integer Basic versus Applesoft? Must have been users dropping Integer Basic.

I was just wondering if Applesoft was maybe already in the works by the time the original Apple II was introduced. Maybe it should've been shipped in the A2 ROMs right from the start but didn't get done in time? Or was it a somewhat later idea?
