I guess I found the term completely ambiguous.  Did he mean an
encoder card, a card in the AUX slot (at the "keyboard end"), the
keyboard circuit board itself, or what?

I don't find anything that ambiguous funny, just ignorant, like lots
of eBay Apple II descriptions.  (Not that I have anything against
ignorant descriptions--they can make for great buys ;-).
