I need to transfer disk files (SHK files) from my PC to my IIgs so I
can write them to actual disks. I want to know what the best way to do
this is given my set up. This is what I have:

Apple IIgs ROM01
SCSI Card
Super Serial Card
Uther Ethernet Card
Hard Drive

My Super Serial card is connected to my PC via a serial cable, I am
able to transfer 5.25" disk images with ADT. I have Internet access
with the Uther card via Contiki, and I have access to a Zip Drive but
I've never used it with my IIgs (just my PC).

What's the best way to transfer files with this set up? Should I used
the SSC or use the FTP functionality in Contiki or what? I'm all
confused here.

I have managed to transfer files using xmodem protocol with the ssc card using telix on the pc side and comm.system on the apple side (under ProDOS). The shk was too big for a normal 5.15" image or I would have used a utility to put it on a dsk image file then to adt it across.

I did try several utilities for the ssc card. First those that would do zmodem and then ymodem, but both with z and y-modem the softwares failed to initiate the sequence (I guess there is a difference how apple and pc used to do this in the BBS era). I use telix on the pc because that is what I used in the BBS era.

Anyway I found that this was very tedious and required action both on the apple and pc side... I wish for a utility like adt but rather a AFT apple file transfer that would have functionality like adt but would transfer files to and from the apple with the convenience like adt. (I have been collecting information on apple programming and might eventually start to make this utility myself (based on adt).)

Have you tried CrossWorks? It is available on the web and can
be used to transfer files with and without "conversions" for
known file types. It has both a PC and an Apple component,
like ADT.
