Ok i'm "stepping" (really just going slowly through the output from my
core) through the rom and up until FE9F everything appears to be the same,
what version rom are you using? (and if possible can i get a copy?)

what you've got is 
FE9F- F0 04       BEQ $FEA5 
and my rom has got
FE9F- F0 06	  BEQ $FEA7

up until this point, everything is the same (well not entirely i don't
have all the hardware emulated [you've got a couple slot cards in there,
no big deal])
