You should keep in mind that this documents the original Apple II/II+
machine, and the IIe has some important differences. In particular, the
linked manual does not document the extra 16K RAM "Language Card"
functionality, associated soft-switches, and other extras that the IIe
provided, like built-in 80 column and lowercase support, 128k RAM
support, double high-res graphics etc.

There is a later spiralbound "Apple II reference manual (for IIe only)"
and a hardcover "Apple IIe Technical Reference Manual" that contains
more information on these details.
