Of course, but then there is the issue of building a cable. For the trouble,
might as well get a newer IDE drive and use a Turbo or MicroDrive controller
instead... or even a CFFA as an IDE controller.

I think he's trying to "keep it authentic" by using as many original parts
as possible.
