This always reminds me of a story about a tourist leaving Boston for the
airport. Realizing he's neglected to sample the local seafood, he asks
the driver if there's someplace nearby where he can get scrod. The
cabbie replies, " I've been asked that many times and many ways, but
never in the pluperfect subjunctive."
