i don't know the machine and i don't plan on bidding on this but does this
thing work? as a hack?

anyway have fun if you are interested..i actually have one of these beasts
someplace...i never use it but....at least i might know how to make it
faster

A couple of us sped up the IIc+ 2 or 3 years ago. The other guy got
8mhz and I toped out at 10mhz. We didn't do all that hacking, all we
did was replace the oscillator with a faster one. With a bit of
experimenting, I likely could have gone faster but I didn't feel the
need. If I'd had s faster data input than a floppy drive, I might have
felt more inclined to try for more speed.

I think it's significant that you didn't need to replace the
processor to obtain the higher speed.

And the mod shown in the auction appears to have increased the
cache size, as well, with the hard part being the conversion
from 600-mil SRAMs to 300-mil SRAMs.
