    That's all that would be needed, a simple pin adapter. Keeping in 
mind the Apple IIc Plus is functional identical to the Apple IIc in terms 
of serial I/O, both use a pair of 6551's and identical signal connection.
All you need is a correctly wired DIN-5 to mini DIN-8 adapter.

    A straight-out mini DIN-8 version would be confusing down the road, 
you'd have people mistakenly thinking it's a  IIGS or Macintosh device.
Not to mention the fact there's far fewer Apple IIc Plus's floating around
out there compared with Apple IIc's.
