As far as I recall, the cards that required it to be set to 'Your Card' 
for digitizing had their own digitizing hardware.  The ones that didn't 
used the built-in capabilities of the IIGS.  The advantage to using your 
own digitizing hardware is that you can do stereo.  I don't know if it's 
present on cards, but it was on the AE Audio Animator I used to have.
