Learning Electronics .. and the Apple II

Hiya,

I've been out of it a little while; moved to FL for 8 months and now
settled in Raleigh, NC a few weeks ago. Hopefully the last move for a
good while. While in FL, I had all my Apple II books and computers
packed up in storage. Now I'm getting ready to break them out again.
During that time, too, I started reading up on basic electronics.

Eventually, I'd like to design some stuff for use with the Apple II.
What stuff, exactly, who knows. But I'd like to get to the point where
I can understand how to design, say, a RAM board, or clock card.

I recall that someone mentioned that earlier issues of Call-Apple had
an article on designing a board - I think it generated periodic
interrupts, not sure. Can anyone confirm that? The full Call-APPLE
magazine set on DVD is on my TO-GET list, but I don't have $100+ to
blow just yet. (And I want to buy the Nibble set too!)

I did a google print search, and if you do a search again, on the book
"Digital Design for Computer Data Acquisition" and then search for
"Apple II" inside it, it looks like they talk about building a
parallel-port card (I think they make one for the Apple II bus and one
for the PC ISA bus.)

Starting real simple and working up from there.. Also, I don't have
any fancy equiptment yet; just a basic digital multi-meter. No
O-scopes or anything like that.

Thanks,
// CHRIS
