Re: Best way to send 800k disk to IIgs???

So I made a null modem cable, and it even runs well at 19,200 (maybe
faster. 19,200 is the fastest COMM.SYSTEM will go), but i just found
out the 3.5" drive i got for the IIgs on ebay does not work. I
transferred a basic nulib(SDK) disk image for system 5 to the ramdisk
and got shrinkit to recognize it as a disk image, but it gave an I/O
error when trying to write to the disk. i also tried the 3.5 drive on
my SE/30 and it doesn't really work. it's noisy and some files are
missing, file list looks weird, etc. i put the same disk in the built-in
drive and it's fine. I HATE YOU EBAY!!! hahaha

though this experience has taught me two things....
1. Apple Disk Transfer/DSK-style image files are really best for 140k
only. Nulib-SDKs are the only way to go for larger sizes. ramdisk on
ROM3 IIgs' is a good way to bootstrap the system back into operation.
2. If an auction says 'not tested, as-is' there's a chance it doesn't
work.
