Actually, the Usenet being not so wellknown today is also an advantage:
nowadays Usenet is quite free from spam.  The spammers focus on email,
the web, and various web-based forums, but not Usenet News.

Ten years ago, the situation was worse: spam in Usenet News was then
much more common than today.
