Well, it looks like the MDIdeas version of the Kensington System Saver.  
You could stick two Apple 3.5" drives in there and put that between the 
GS and the monitor.

Looks like the center switch powers up the 4 center plugs in the rear 
and the other two power up the outlet on the corresponding side.

Always wanted one, but never had the money when they were for sale, 
don't really have the money now...
