SCAM - Mactech77/Dan Hetzel - confirmed

I posted a message just over a month ago regarding a possible scam by Dan Hetzel/mactech77 (e-mail addresses: dahetzel@wi.rr.com / mactech77@yahoo.com). I can now confirm that this was indeed a scam and warn everyone not to do business with this person.

Essentially, the seller posted a message on this newsgroup regarding an Apple //c+ for sale on 24 Jun 05. He was very quick to answer my questions about the system and I purchased it from him the same day, and paid by PayPal. When the system was not received, I sent numerous e-mails without getting a reply. I then proceeded to file a complaint through PayPal. The seller never bothered to file his side of things with PayPal and therefore the complaint was decided in my favour. A few days later, I got a message from the seller stating that he had been away for a few weeks and that his girlfriend had mailed the computer to the wrong address, but that it had come back and he was going to mail it again. That was over a month ago and nothing has come in, and no further correspondence has been received from the seller.

Unfortunately, PayPal says it hasn't been able to recover any money yet since the seller's account is empty, and I'm not holding much hope that they will do anything further. It's not that much money, but still... anyhow, just wanted to warn everyone. It's unfortunate that this would happen in a small community like ours - although I am convinced that this is a very isolated incident. Now, anyone else have a //c+ they don't need? :-)
