A few weeks ago ground.ecn.uiowa.edu suffered a drive failure and has been offline since that time. I have not found a replacement drive yet (50pin narrow, single-ended SCSI, which was commonly used several years ago). Unfortunately, I have been told that the recent backup tapes are unavailable. So, if the ground machine is ever resurrected, the backup must come from a site that mirrored ground. I still read csa2 on a different machine, but it is not configured to post followups so it is hard to communicate with this newsgroup. It is surprising that several weeks went by without someone mentioning the loss of the ground archive. I was beginning to get worried that no-one cared ;-)

I have some drives and some adapters I would be willing to send free of charge. I suggest you go with an adapter, assuming they work with your machine. 50 pin drives are getting hard to come by and most are old stock, so may be susceptible to early failure. What size drive so you need? (capacity and form size)

I made a copy of it about two and a half years ago (January 15, 2003). I could put it on three CDs and mail it to you, Steve.

Anyone else have a more recent mirror?
