Re: Another "what game is this?"

Hi folks,
I've been looking around the Internet but I can't find this game.
It's a text-based Zork-style game. At the start, you're in this town
(I think it had a middle-ages feel), you leave town, go over a bridge
(up into the mountains?), and when you come back over the bridge the
whole town is completely different; it's all creepy and weird and all
the townsfolk have become monsters or ghosts or something. The only
clear memory I have is the way you get back over the bridge: it's
guarded by a monster of some sort, and you open this can of mixed nuts
but it's actually one of those spring-loaded toy snake things, and the
guard gets scared and runs away. I'm sorry my memory is so hazy, but I
was only about 8 when I played it (in 1989). I've no clue what the
title might be, so looking through Asimov's archives didn't help.
If this rings any bells, please e-mail me at awsavage@hotmail.com.

Thanks,

That sounds like Wishbringer from Infocom. Every puzzle had two solutions, a wish using the stone (once found) or another method.
