Actually ProTERM (version 3.1 at least) handles batch filetype changes.
Simply go to the 'File' menu, select 'Set File Info' and when the dialog box
appears, press the space bar to mark each file (indicated by a checkmark).
Make sure to check-off the radio button "Use Same Info For All Files?".

From there you just click 'Set Info', enter the filetype, auxiliary type
and access. This will change the filetype for ALL selected files. I used
this feature countless times in the past when downloading generic data
files from my shell account to the IIgs's hardisk.
