I have a Macintosh LC II and I can get the images for MacOS 7 off of
apple's site... but how would I install it on a machine (without
putting it onto disks) I only have a MacOS 9 machine to format disks,

disk under MacOS 9.

What exactly happens when you try to use a disk formatted on the newer
Mac? I assume you have other disks which do work OK? Have you tried
cleaning the disk heads with a floppy drive cleaner?

Sorry I wasn't clear on that point... The disk I was referring to was a
HardDisk and when format the disk (to wipe it) or if I try to install MacOS
7 on the disk from within OS9, it tells me when i reboot with the newly
installed OS (MacOS 7) that the disk "Won't work on this mac" because it's
not formatted properly or something like that.

ISTR that the Mac installs a disk driver on the disk when it partitions
it. It's easy to believe that the driver installed by OS9 is not usable
by OS7.
