I use a device similar to the Lantronix.  I suspect it is most likely your 
cable.  double-check the pinouts on both ends to make sure you have the 
proper connections.  I had a bear of a time getting my GS working with the 
Moxa box i'm using.  It ended up being the cable pinouts.  If you need any 
help, let me know.
