Re: Most technically advanced apple II 8-bit games?

Some other interesting games of note that may be considered "technically" advanced: (some of which I saw on the below website)

John Madden Football - A 11 man football game on a stock 64K Apple II. It's been a while since I played it, but I seem to recall it was pretty fun. Obviously, comparing it to the current Madden franchise is unfair, but for it's time, Madden was great on the Apple II.

Flobiynoid (sp?) - 8 bit Arkanoid clone. I found it at a Bay Area software clearance shop (Herb's Software - now closed I believe) and it was fun as heck. I didn't have a color monitor so I couldn't vouch completely for it's graphics. However, they seemed smooth and the game played well.

The Ancient Art of War - I played this on a Mac which it was first originally released. At the time, I thought "man, I wish they would release it for the Apple II". Apparently, it was released for the Apple II. :D I can't vouch for the II version of the game, but if it's anywhere close to the Mac version, it's a heck of a game.

Airheart - One of the few double hi-res arcade/action games. I played it sparingly, but it got some rave reviews when it was released.

skyfox - one of my early favorites. It's graphics are pretty darn good for hi-res. :D

Now, I am surprised that no one has mentioned the following:

Castle Wolfenstein/Beyond Castle Wolfenstein - The graphics were nothing to shout about. BUT, the voice synthesis was a marvel at the time.

I just checked out Test Drive for the 8bit,
very neat. Accelerator, brakes, gear
shift, ok animations on other cars
(great for apple II), animated road-side.
