Re: Why still using Apple II?

The reason I like "working" (kind of hard to regard anything I have fun
doing as "work") with Apple // series computers is that it's fun to see
how much you can do with so little. Currently, I'm whipping my Apple
//c+ into shape so that it can do pretty much whatever a modern
computer can do, sound and graphics excluded. I have a hard drive for
it, as well as a GUI. I should be able to find some mouse based
software to run on it as well.

I guess another thing that keeps me going with the Apple // is that it
disgusts me how most people treat computers today. Heck, if companies
treated their workers the way they treat their computers, they'd fire
them once they reached the age of 30 and have them buried a year later.
Just because something's old doesn't mean it isn't usable. Old
computers can still be useful and entertaining. I even know of one guy
in the next town that still runs his business on an Apple //c, and last
time I checked, the public middle school was still using GS's for
instruction, while the teachers used //e's for keeping track of grades
and such.
