OK, I found Rubywand's FAQ on the monitors. So now I guess tht proper
question is 

4. Does anyone have a cable I can use to convert any non-Apple monitor
to use with the IIGS?

I figure that if I first get a good cable, then I can find the monitor
on Ebay or elsewhere.
