Apple did try an experiment with the Apple ][+ when they came out with a keyboard that was basically non-repairable. They used a membrane type arrangement. You'll know the key board by it's lack of solder on the bottom side. It was a piece of junk keyboard. None of the Apple // line used it again, but they did try again with a low cost Mac keyboard.
