How about switching to a news provider that has a clue? alt.binaries.* has
never been the only place on Usenet where you'd find binaries posted. Hell,
there used to be many sites back in the day that carried few (if any) of the
alt.* newsgroups. There are plenty of newsgroups under comp.*, rec.*, etc.
where binaries are posted. If I were you, I'd switch and fire off a
nastygram to Giganews explaining why you're switching.
(I've used NewsHosting for some time now and have had no complaints.)
