Is there nothing in the BBS packages that allows setting up a time
out? Meaning, if after 5 minutes or whatever of no activity, send the
modem an ATH to hang it up and then go back to waiting for the next
call. That way, if someone loses the connection, the BBS will reset
itself and continue working and KEGS' modem support will free up that
socket for incoming connections again.

I've never run a Metal BBS so I don't think I can help much with the
config file.
