I read in the FAQ that the kind souls here occasionally offer up
startup disk sets for newbies.
I just got an old IIgs and it came with a questionable copy of System
5.0.2. It booted once correctly, then on subsequent boots I get a "can
not load descriptor" error. The disk was always write protected so I'm
not sure what to think.
I'm willing to send blanks, or a few $$$ to cover disks and time.
A couple of questions:
The system came with a Vulcan 20MB HD. The drive is old (1989) but it
sounds like it's spinning up at least. Is there an install/prep/test
disk available for this? Is it worth it to get this HD running, or
should I look for something else?
The system is a ROM 01 and has a GS Sauce 4MB RAM card. Anything else
I need?
I think that transfering via null-modem would be the easiest since I
don't have access to old Macs to write disk images. Is there an option
I'm missing? What's the best/easiest terminal program to use on the
IIgs side?
