That sounds right.  The transformer for a linear supply would have
been a real problem for a low-profile case!

I remember that the actual design of the switching supply was done
by Apple's first hired engineer (whose name I should remember...).



Rod Holt, a pretty smart guy himself. Jobs was responsible for the asthetics
of the keyboard and case - it's color, shape, venting, the choice to use
plastics instead of metal. It was a big deal considering the RF issues most
equipment had at the time.


Thanks for reminding me, Sean.  I agree that Rod was a real asset to
the fledgling company.

And the plastic case certainly did come back to haunt them when
they had to meet RFI specs.  ;-)  Still, I wouldn't have it any
other way.
