I think the drive behind making music with a limited palette of sounds
is comparable to the appeal of programming a machine with very limited
resources, ie: getting there is half the fun.

BTW, having heard both a number of times, my considered opinion is that
the AppleCrate version of "In My Life" is a whole lot better than Ozzy
Osbourne's attempt.
