The basic problem with the Apple II "market" is that 99% of the software
anyone will ever need is available for free, legally or not, so by
comparison any commercially available software doesn't seem like such a
bargain. In the real world, when any product's value approaches $0.00,
the manufacturer/distributor invariably gives up... in the A2 microcosm,
the majority of "consumers" have set the value of software at $0.00, but
there are still suppliers who are asking a higher price than _most_
consumers are willing to pay... but if they are still making sales at a
price that is even a little bit profitable, then it just makes sense for
them to continue doing so until such time as the demand disappears
completely.

However, when a distributor asks $14 shipping for a single 3.5"
diskette, then I just have shake my head.
