apple IIe enhancement kit prob

I have a French Apple IIe which I tried to upgrade with the four chips 
of the enhancement kit. Unfortunately the char rom is for the US and 
seems not to be working in this Apple as the keyboard puts out a few 
misplaced characters.

Is that the problem or should I look on something else? Where can I find 
another char rom suitable for my apple IIe?

The mb is copyrighted in 1982 and has this rev number on it: 820-0073-B
