Huh?
On the IIgs keyboard, the ESC key is right where it belongs up there next
to the number one. That where it is on the IIgs, that's where it is on
the ][e, on the //c, on the ][+, on the ][...that's where it is on my
Psion, that's where it was on the TRS-80 (even though it had no
function), and I think that's where Sun put it on their keyboards, and
where IBM put it on the PC keyboard (the one that had the Control key in
the right place).
Yeah, the arrow keys are a little weird on the IIgs keyboard, but they're
the same way on the ][e, and it's a distinct improvement over the ][+
which didn't have up and down arrow keys...
(See, the perspective is a little different coming from someone who
remembers when windows were only for lighting and ventilation...)
