: Bill, I'm glad that you found out what was causing your
: messages to be rejected.
:
: As you may know, AOL has long offered a degree of spam filtering
: to its users, which they can configure. I have always chosen to
: turn this off (the non-default setting).

I, too, when I used AOL, turned off there many governing protocols.
Whenever I have tried them again and again, I rediscovered the many
reasons why I quit them in the first place. Although I have to now
protect myself, at least I have the freedom to run my setup the way
"I" want to, and not how someone else wants me to. The nicest thing
about Comcast is, even though I pay for 3 IPs, which are on my PC,
my GFs, and daughter's, I've still been able to get 2 more for the
G3, and IIgs without hassle. I imagine that I could cancel 2 of my
paid IPs and still get any additional IPs that I need through the
DHCP protocol. Also, Comcast's support center is knowledgeable and
gets any problem I have fixed in record time. I have had to call AOL,
when I used them, over and over again and still ended up working out
my own problems. Btw, do you use their "bring your own access" service?

: Recently, they have intensified their "war" on spam, apparently
: with good effect. It would not surprise me to find that they
: have inserted some "non-optional" filtering in their pursuit of
: a spam-free world. ;-)

Their service is great for the "technically challenged", and I'm glad
there is a service that provides people with a no-knowledge method
of accessing the internet, and this is why I call them "internet for
dummies". :o) Not to imply at all that you are a dummy. You are by
far, not one. :o)

: Your .sig (above) contains two web links and an email link, and
: one of the HTTP links is a naked IP address. I can see how a
: filter might score this as "likely spam".

My sig is far from advertising, but I can see how it could be
construed as such. Heh-Heh!

: Nevertheless, I still resent having my mail "nannied", and will
: attempt to get more information from AOL about this.

I don't blame you there. It's like having your parents hovering
over you when you're all grown up with kids of your own. :o)
