For any of you who'd like to listen, I've put the most
recent CRATE.SYNTH rendition of Gymnopedie (my test piece)
on my web site.

This one is now:

1) "pop"-less
2) "tick"-less
3) with MIDI-correct timing
4) with extended sustain times, like a real piano

At this point, except for a little 120Hz buzz in the signal,
you are hearing about what can be done by a 2x oversampling,
11kHz sample rate wavetable synthesizer running on (in this
piece) 7 unaccelerated Apple //e main boards.

Of course, there is only one voice (piano-like) and no
amplitude (expression) control yet...but there will be
next week.  ;-)
