A classic Mac is very useful in the creation of IIgs disks. The latest method is with a Superdrive and controller which allows for the creation of 1440K ProDOS disks on the PC using CiderPress. The Superdrive can then read these disks. Other methods are being worked on as we speak, but I have no clue as to the status of these devices.
Speaking of 1.4 MB disks, does anyone know the sector order of these disks? I implemented them in Dapple 0.8 a long time ago using the MS-DOS sector order (1:1 interleave, alternating sides, 80 tracks, 2 heads, 18 sectors of 512 bytes), and don't have any way to test if my implementation is compatible with a genuine Superdrive.
Also maybe I should buy a controller and drive if such can be made to work on my //e, then I have a real nice way to copy stuff over... *_*
