CompuLynx SchoolMate IIe network..think it works..

i'm slowly digging thru my apple ii stuff and i found that network i have
from prev ramblings on here and it is called

CompuLynx SchoolMate IIe network setup....

i have not fully dug it out from under all my stuff yet but did see enough
of it to get the name...again this setup uses a controller card on various
//e systems (maybe ii+ etc too) and it says in the manual it is entirely
hardware driven...no setup disks...i think? it comes with like 12 or 16 indv
stations with card and little black box (think 2002 a space odessy) if i
remeber right each box is equiv to 800k drive..i'm not sure if it uses
standard ram in these little black boxes or something exotic like bubble
memory..the whole works hitches via a pre eithernet hub type plug
arrangement from the various //e stations with these 800k boxes to a master
hub control unit..and i assume a master card and and master //e to run the
works...anyway...that is all i got so far...

anyone want to jump in here on what this thing is/does..ie can you hitch an
old sider to it or hd? ... anyone else have or seen one of these beasts run?
..or have one of the beasts also......i see there is a card on ebay for a
computerlynx card for 15 bucks i assume this is the //e satellite card...so
anyone with scatterings of pieces or other info jump on here...and i'll
compare it to what i have ..ie when i get it out....

anyway..when i dig it out ..i'll get some more info...and perhaps.... if the
beast is all run off hardware (ie eprom) ...as i think the manual
states...and ram and has no software disks etc...maybe some enterprising
fool out their can make a hacked together clone of whatever runs the
beast....assuming it is eproms and just ramdisks to run this thing...

anyway...i'm getting there..but it is avalanche country in the area of my
burrowing....so may take me a bit of time yet...rubbermade avalanches can be
deadly...but anyway that is the name of the apple // network (i think it is
complete) that i mentioned in prev posts..

(ventures back into the more unstable/unsteady parts of the apple //
rubbermaid fault lines of the basement....shudder)
