But can you put both in at once?

Yes.

I just took a peek at a system board,
and the IIe card doesn't cover that slot, so maybe you can.

You can.

Maybe the
ethernet card would also fit in the Color Classic, though there may be
more room in the 575.

This particular ethernet card (Apple) is made so it will fit in the color classic. Others may need modification of either the card or the classic.

I haven't used or had a need for a router in the last couple months, but in a week or so should know if the 575 can 'play well with others'.

I've pretty much just viewed 575's as Mystic
donors.

The difficulties with enablers and such while working with a 575 motherboard and Color Classic led me to look a bit beyond the Classic, although I like the footprint.

A few days ago I had a eureka moment and bought a 575 on eBay.

$30 delivered, and today one just went on eBay for a couple dollars less. Both were within 100 miles of where I am, so I almost decided to get the second one to have a spare.

I have an external scsi cd burner for my Mystic that I pull out when
needed, so I have the cd covered.
As to which is more usefull- well, neither. ;-) They're both obsolete,

Antique perhaps, but anything still being used, even if just for nostalgia, is not obsolete.

I have a slightly less obsolete 4400/200 Power Mac when I need
something "useful".
That's interesting, too- it has the hardware for a Pentium 133 in
addition to being a Mac.

I have a 64-bit WinXP that can read and write Mac disks and CDs, and a IIGS that can read and write MSDos disks, so I still have feet in many worlds.

I've also got the parts to make a Takky,

With a 575, there are fewer reasons to do so.
