I think you'd be surprised at how well 5.25" floppies hold up. Unless they
were written to cheap media, there's no reason they should be unreadable.
Some of mine are coming up on 20 years old soon, and they're still readable.
3.5" floppies (especially high-density 3.5" floppies), OTOH...
