not sure about gbbs stuff i may be wrong but i think it is not being
distributed anymore by the copy right holder...or some other problems
finding him or some such...anyway...i have metal/fv 4.0xev stuff....also
script based like gbbs...there used to be an acos to metal convert program
to convert gbbs modules.around here someplace...terry might have a copy of
this....(prob all gbbs modules  have been converted  to metal/fv someplace)
to metal type language use format...same as the telnet boycot bbs link
below....

anyway....you can also prob get a copy from the boycott bbs (metal/fv) with
his telnet hardware fix he has up on the net now...and get an idea of what
games etc he has etc etc...if you want to check out metal/fv...anyway his
telnetable system is below

it is located at telnet:boycot.no-ip.com:9999 this is a fv/metal 4.0 setup
with large game setup..my setup prob has another 20 games not listed on this
bbs area....we prob need to merge mods/games etc...as long as our systems
are more/less identical...

another option is a guy who got a router to work with his apple and a
network..you can telnet into his system below.he has equip router to get and
a script
you can use last i heard do a search comp.sys.apple2 it is there
someplace...his link is below.

anyway eventually i plan on getting said hardware fix (not sure if he went
(terry olsen)  with the router product fix with the ports or the other
router version....he *terry olson boycot bbs* also has a product called bbs
gateway to do it from a serial connection and a windows program running on a
win32 machine..options to get the stuff on the internet in some method or
via a www based msdos windows bbs pkg..2 methods of hardware that i know of
and the bbs gateway program....is the 3rd method...a 4th method is to i use
worldgroup 3.20 bbs pkg with web server built in as a front end ..at least i
did when the www.lost-gonzo.bbs was still up..still down..but they are still
very expensive....still is sadly....

....but there is now a www front end on another freeware actively supported
bbs msdos pkg you could use as a web based front end and link to your apple
// gs machines with some of this bbs pkgs up (or not using boycott method)
the one i'd recommend is the www.synchro.net msdos pkg with web server
..nice way to link the web to your apple // and a lot cheaper the worldgroup
bbs is/was....side note but related to apple 2 if you want to get them up
easy on the net or via a synch based dyn.ip setup/free system...also has
ways to get newsfeeds/ftp server/www server/ and has a new 32bit fossil
driver method to run the bbs and all those bbs door programs of the past
that were in dos 6.2 under windows packages in multinode server mode (200
plus users per game..and many games per server)...that is great........stuff
like the pit, legend of red dragon in multinode etc fido....interbbs game
network etc etc..

anyway....i'm gonna try to get the hardware fix he has up (terry at boycott)
and eventually at least for internal use for the old www.lost-gonzo.com bbs
(still down).....at that time i'll try to figure out how to get it out on
the internet again....may use the free dyn.ip service provided to
www.synchro.net bbs sysops using his www server bbs..that way have a dyn.ip
setup like no-ip.com up..built into his freeware package for his synchronet
bbs sysops.....with /www server and then rig www pages directly to the apple
door machines running tpro and fv/metal setups..using java telnet
etc..seamless...more/less....or just put the worldgroup system back up with
my old fixes...i could also use...

anyway...got sidetracked....

as far as gbbs pro....i think the copyright holder does not distribute that
anymore...but i could be wrong...fv/metal from me or boycott is basically
just getting a hd copy of our hd systems (less the users) ....and figuring
out how you want it to be hitched up to the net or whatever...same for tpro
4.2f rpg bbs..the proline you can download directly from the link
below...blastervision...have to dig that out somewhere....another is orig
applenet dos 3.3 version from 1982...(old safehouse bbs pkg)

other packages avail out there are tpro 4.2f rpg bbs which has the author
freeware page avail for people to use or distribute his stuff(but he does
not have  the program...i do have the program however on a couple hard
drives) that is freeware now..it is basically an RPG game with a bbs added
on...dungeon, joust, bar, gambling, star wars game etc etc etc....some nut
back in the day actually made a 256 plus node version for UNIX port of tpro
and such..i have a copy of that and the source/client...for a laugh...but he
musta really been bored to do the work on that back in the day...so a person
could make a tpro bbs look and have 256 users on....on a unix box .....

anyway the perm page for freeware and to distribute is this link if you want
to check..i do have a copy of this pkg works very well off a null modem
connection to a windows machine running windows bbs pkg (very dumb pkg just
sits on serial connection and looks for a CR return over and over...but
works like a charm..so old you can only hit at 2400 baud or so)...but works

otherwise legally get it...

happened to use same name for prodos version) (the former safehouse bbs

source...as a lark rather then toss it as was his first intention....i have

the last thing is i have somekinda large? supposed RPG game that was modem
capable but not a bbs..or something beyond just a bbs

it was called "complex" or complex II i think?....ran on an apple never got
it up ...anyone remember what exactly this was?

have a gbbs pkg a guy sold me when he got out of it...all  his sofware and
his bbs system...but...if the author won't allow distribute (i'm legal
owner..but passing it around w/o selling my licensed version ..well ..) all
i know is a another guy on the newsgroup  was interested in a WACOS port
(windows look kinda copy of a gbbs bbs on a windows machine..and i'm not
sure if that ended well?...anyway if it is freeware and i don't know what
i'm talking about anyone can point me to a link..i'm sure i could use the
advice and add another apple bbs pkg to my collection ...or at least a fresh
install version ...(i know zip about gbbs except is is closely related to
metal/fv)

anyway there are some options avail with some digging and/or copy'ing of
stuff...all but the gbbs stuff (maybe ?....might also be avail?) but to the
best of my knowledge the stuff above is available legally for distribution
...or at least a way to get it and use it....in one way or another...
